For their field trip, my son’s school commissioned a travel and tours agency to arrange the kids’ visit to PlayLab PH and Dessert Museum. The day’s itinerary included a visit to either the Museum of Natural History or the Museum of Anthropology at the National Museum.
The field trip cum family day was held on a Sunday and the call time was at 6:00 AM. Daddy and I needed woke up at around 3:00 AM to prepare for the day. The kids were already up by 5:00 AM. And right off the bat, we are inside the tour bus at exactly 6:00 AM.
However, it took an hour before everyone came. We waited for the rest but it was alright for us since we already took our breakfast and we are already comfortably seated inside the bus.
The bus started rolling at exactly 7:00 AM. The tour guide started the day with a prayer and followed it up with the house rules. Afterward, she proceeded to discuss a little history of Manila and the nearby city of San Juan. We passed San Juan on our way to our first stop, the Robinsons Galleria for the PlayLab PH.
We reached Robinsons Galleria at 8:00 AM. The mall was still closed but since we had an appointment with PlayLab PH, the group was able to get inside the mall.
PlayLab PH is located on the fourth floor of the mall. It is an interactive indoor playground where kids and young-at-heart can enjoy the marvels of technology through play and games.
PlayLab PH requires guests to wear socks upon entering the play area. For those who do not have a pair, socks are available for purchase at the reception area.
Water is also for sale at the reception area for P20. This is a good thing since guests will definitely feel thirst after indulging in the activities inside the area.
There are also restrooms at the opposite side of the reception area. They are clean and well-maintained.
In between the reception and the play area is the locker area where guests can store their belongings and their shoes.
I will not go much into details as to what the play area looks like. You may watch this video if you want to see the attractions and activities in store for kids and kids-at-heart inside.
We only had until 10:00 AM at the PlayLab PH. It is our free time after that. We took our lunch and departed from Robinsons Galleria at 12:00 PM.
The second stop of the tour was at Conrad Hotel Manila’s Dessert Museum. I was not able to record much here since my battery died and my body is already aching from carrying my little boy and running around together with Kuya.
Inside the Museum are eight dessert-themed rooms mostly covered with giant versions of the featured dessert. The rooms were just small but instagrammable. This is actually a place to take a lot of pictures to. There’s not a lot of activities here but the kids can go and run around the place and go crazy being surrounded by giant donuts, cake pops, and cotton candy. More like dessert heaven!
We only had 15 minutes to explore one room. Afterward, the sweet fairy will introduce the next room before opening the door to let the kids and the parents in.
We were able to finish the entire museum in two hours. The third stop of the tour was at the National Museum. On our way there, the tour guide gave a brief history of other cities in Metro Manila and discussed how and where each city got its name.
Upon arrival at Kalaw in the city of Manila, the group split into two and went into either the Museum of Natural History or the Museum of Anthropology. Daddy and I were too tired to take photos or even blog about it. But we can visit the museum on our own, perhaps, packed with more energy and battery. J
Entrance fee at the PlayLab PH is around P400 for two hours (if I remember it right) and a tour inside the Dessert Museum costs around P800.
